This week's guest is the reigning world champion of offline PC Swos, having won the title in Billund in July 2014. Hard and aggressive on the pitch (his tackle-based style is well known), a true gentleman outside of it: welcome Marin Parushev!
1. To break the ice, please tell us something about you:
Well, my name is Marin Parushev and I have just turned 30. I am single and I live in Sofia where I work as a Web Developer.
2. How and when did you know about Swos?
I was about 11-12 years old when my parents bought me a portable hard disk with plenty of games. SWOS 96/97 European Championship Edition was one of them. I remember that I didn't play much back then and my first experience with the game was not so good. I started without configuring the controls and every time I would shoot the ball (with the space key) the game would stop for a while to save a highlight. I liked SWOS a lot because it had all Bulgarian teams from the first division and I played mostly with them. A few years later in high school I discovered that some of my classmates played SWOS too. And then I found the Serbian website about SWOS. These were the times when I played the game for hours every day. Since I only played against the computer, its players would often outrun or outtackle mine. My only chance was to hard tackle and that's how I developed my notorious style of playing.
3. Since when have you been playing Swos online?
I think it was the spring of 2006. I don't remember who told me I could play online but when I joined the IRC channel Playaveli helped me configure the Kaillera client and we played several games. He beat me by many goals but it wasn't disappointing. The Amiga SWOS online was a completely different game compared to what I had played before at home. I started practising and there were always players online who could play with me. But it was a little late to join the Sensi Days tournament. I did it next year and I've been a regular participant since then.
4. How has your playing style changed in the course of time, especially after discovering you could play Swos online?
In order to be competitive with the top players I had to learn more ways to score a goal. Some of the first ones were the Jigga goal and the Foka goal. But I also had to learn how to develop my attacks because short passes and running straight with the ball with one player were no longer effective. I had to send long balls to my strikers. The biggest change however was after one hot tournament I played in Belgrade. I saw some Serbian players scoring very often after shooting diagonals to the near post. I mastered that goal and scoring it multiple times has been annoying my opponents since then. It is well known now as the "disgusting" goal.
5. Do you think you could still improve or have you reached your maximum potential?
I definitely lack some heading skills. That can be crucial when I play someone who prefers high headers.
6. Do you admire a Swosser's gamestyle in particular? What would you like to steal from him if you could?
I admire everyone who tackles a lot like me, not being afraid of a red card. ElMichaJ is such a player for example. Leaving tackling aside I admire Ali's and Coolio Jack's heading skills. In this area I think I will never be as good as them.
7. Since both things are at times strictly connected, my question is: what is your finest memory related to Swos and what is the best match you have ever played in your Swosser's life?
My finest memories are of course related to offline games, above all about my last Sensi Days in Billund where I finally won the PC trophy.
However my best match was in 2008 when I played a quarterfinal in Amiga with Luca. After a draw in the first game I won the second 1-0 down to 10 men. The semifinal after that was also very exciting although Lobo eliminated me. Anyway everything ended more than well because I won the third place and my first Sensi Days medal.
8. You are a high-level player, but you must have experienced bitter disappointment yourself...
Yes, of course. My first shock was in 2007 when I lost to MCT in the semifinal by 6-0. I think no one has made such a result in this stage of the tournament since then.
After that several times I got eliminated in knockout stages by one goal or on penalties. In such moments there is always great disappointment but also big respect for the player who won. 
9. What prompts you to keep on playing Swos and what - in your opinion - makes the game still attractive after more than 20 years from its first release?
Unfortunately I quit playing online SWOS a long time ago. However I try to regularly attend offline events. I think it is no longer just the game that matters but also the friendly atmosphere and the high-quality beer that always accompany a tournament. It is a great community that we have established.
In addition to that, very often such events are organized very far from where I live. This is a great opportunity for me to visit foreign countries.
10. And finally, please give a suggestion to the new prospects who are about to debut in our online Swos competitions.
